Reading Supplements

In the original iteration of the podcast, I read classic fairytales every now and again, later choosing to take them out as they were others’ translations and adaptations. Though I didn’t think I should include them in the podcast proper, I see no reason to toss them out entirely. On this page, you can listen to a selection of those fairytale readings, some with commentary before or after the reading.

I’ve included the book and page range that I read from for each story, so you can follow along that way, if you happen to have the same edition. Otherwise, enjoy the audio as-is, and read whichever edition of the tale that you prefer to glean its most salient plot points.

The audio is playable directly from the site here, and you can also right-click to download the file if you prefer.

Before I started the podcast, though, I experimented with a video series that involved me sipping whiskey and reading children’s books. I filmed far more episodes than I actually uploaded onto YouTube at the time, but I figure some of them might have an (unlisted) home here.

In the early days of TSBA (TE), I was writing an epistolary (from Witch to Bigfoot, who had wandered into her woods) and alongside the epistolary, was uploading some video content as well, attempting to “play” Witch. Some of those videos involved Witch reading fairytales.

Finally, I also read a few poems in as dramatic a fashion as I could manage, and I’ve decided to sneak those (unlisted) onto this page as well.
