Extreme Makeup Extreme Colour Evil Song <E3>

One, be born in a square room
Two, from within look up at the moon
Three, in a cage no good for you
Bask, give yourself over to it, and WRITHE IN PAIN

One, go on and scatter, aware of fate
Two, of the fantasy of freedom
Three, tire of crying and sleep
Someday, until the day you can flap your wings

Those stars that are twinkling, too
are laughing at your teary face from above
So in due time, until a day that glows
Without rushing, I slowly say “goodnight”

So now, raise your head up high and someday
we’ll go in search of the graffiti you drew
Dream of days when surely, in time, you’ll be able to sincerely smile

NOTES / INTERPRETATION:

oo1. I’m making a big guess at the title; you could read and interpret it in a few different ways. I chose wording in English that would allow the title to be shortened to E3!

Thoughts. This song easily places me back in my teenage years, brimming with frustration and dreaming of the day when I would have the agency I wished for over my own life. It has such a great rebellious, visual kei spirit to it and encourages every little misfit to raise their head up high (and headbang like crazy).

This song takes on a life of its own at lives, the members doing a synchronized march forward and backward across the stage and extending a section of the song to maximize the wild antics and fun it brings out in themselves and the audience. The one-two-three count has such a great cadence to it — an orderliness that contrasts with the otherwise fierce energy of the song. There is a part of the song that is not written in the lyric booklet and I still don’t know what Shou sings, but it hypes us all up every time!
